I came across a fantastic resource awhile ago and recently reviewed it again. I'd like to share it with our Game Plan tribe. Business Insider went through the process of building out a site that shows if your state is susceptile to being hit by a certain type of disaster from the following:
- Flood
- Blizzard
- Wildfire
- Tornado
- Tsunami
- Hurricane
- Earthquake
Then Lists out from most to least resilient each state. By using a Composite Disaster Score (CDS) and then looking at several factors like state budgets to get a Preparedness Score (PS).
For example based on annual budget for emergency supplies and preparedness Wyoming is ranked as the having a fairly low Composite Disaster Score of 3.8 and Preparedness Score of 9.9 and North Dakota a CDS of 5.6 and a PS of 10. They are ranked 1 and 2 on the list. Whereas California has a CDS of 8.4 and PS of 2.3 and Texas is a CDS of 9.4 and PS of .3.
You can find your state on the list and then start planning accordingly
